A
misty/foggy vision of a tropical rain forest graces
the curved wall below the grand staircase. By the time
the Show House opens, the forest will have taken over
the large foyer — and the red staircase runner
will have been replaced with something lighter.
Aleksandr
Golubchik’s vision is to create a foggy rain forest
to bring in more air for such a large space. Trained
as an oil-on-canvas artist, Golubchik’s mural
uses 44 colors, plus other tones mixed from those colors,
to transport the viewer to the jungle. His shading is
subtle and varies so you see different elements depending
on where you’re standing in the room, or how the
light hits the walls. He’ll paint the whole room,
floor to ceiling, in similar fashion. And although he
sketched a storyboard, he paints freehand, doing no
preparatory sketches on the wall. |
