This
space was selected by Favette and Wolff, LLC to showcase
the classic challenge of transitioning the design of
one floor to another. Such a space is an excellent use
of the Muralist's craft. The work must be calibrated
as it moves from one area to another - something that
would be impossible with wallpaper, or a too rigid design.
Murals and wall treatments harmonize the area they occupy,
but if the space encompasses more than one 'feel' it
is the job of the artist to help it flow.
The
graphic floral design shown here is accomplished with
a tight palette to maintain a modernist feel. The oversized
scale also keeps the work iconic. On the first floor, simple
stripes become stems and leaves. As we ascend the staircase,
we climb above the dandelions to the open air, where
the seeds freely drift in the breeze.
